âHomosexuality and the Androgynous Soleâ
Christians are often taught that Homosexuality is a sin. However, there are some points of discussion, I will address, that do not negate the act as a sin but change the nature of the act. I will attempt to addressing this topic so that all who read it will understand how the act of homosexuality and the state of homosexuality differ. The non believer should consider this section from the standpoint of evolution, were the Christians, can help Jesus our Lord and savior give salvation and eternal life to those who feel as if they have been abandoned by the church. To do this we will look to all the words spoke by Jesus, those in the new testament and some that are not in the cannon but hold Gods revelation just the same. Some of these books were considered heretical in ancient time but are by today's standards mild and harmless.
We will start this discussion with the Gnostics and early Christians of antiquity. In the gnostic writing, and many lost books of the bible, there are Gospels that mention, Pistis Sophia, this is a name that was used by the disciples, and the female followers of Jesus, to explain wisdom, (Meyer, 2008). In the heretical Gospel of Philip he says, âSome said, âMary conceived by the Holy Spirit.â They are in error. They do not know what they are saying. Whenever has a female been impregnated by a female?â (Barnstone &Meyer 2003) Another of the Gnostic scriptures attested the third piece of the holy trinity is the Mother, the invisible virgin spirit, Gods Forethought called Barbelo. This Holy invisible mother is described in the Secret book of John 13-16. âHis thought became a reality and she who appeared in his presents in shinning light came forth. She is the first power who proceeded everything an came forth from his mind as a forethought of the all. Her light shines like the fathers light; she , the perfect power, is the image of the perfect and invisible virgin spirit,â(Meyer, 2008). In these writings it is clear that the apostle Philip and posibly John consider the holy spirit to be the Universal mother or at the very least female in nature.
Is this something that we should consider as having come from Jesus? Is it possible that the Holy Spirit is female? Keep in mind there were two possible languages that Jesus would have spoken in ancient Judea, Hebrew and Aramaic. The word for spirit in Hebrew is Ruach this is a feminine term not a male term. The word in Aramaic is also ruach and is clearly a feminine term. The next language that the gospels would have been translated into would have been Greek. The Greek word for spirit is pneuma. This is a sex neutral term not male or female.
Obviously this is something that the Gnostics took very seriously. The gnostic writing imply a tri-fold God. The father (God) the Son (Christ) and the Universal Mother (Holy Spirit).
